Before and After Custom

If anyone ever tells you that they can't see a difference between off-the-rack and custom, tell them to look again. I especially like this picture, which seems to display a homely teenager on the left and a up-coming, sophisticated businessman on the right. You could say the difference is obvious; the guy on the left suit is too baggy. But there is even more to the picture. Every other detail besides the bagginess is what separates a off-the-rack or tailored suit from a custom suit. Look at the difference in the size of the armhole, shoulder, stomach and bicep measurements on the jacket. Look at the ankle, knee, crotch, and thigh measurement on the trousers. These measurements and many more add to the overall make-up of custom suits. Typically, there needs to be at least 20 measurements to make a fine fitting suit. Its through all of these minute measurements that transform the kid on the left, to the custom suit wearing gentleman on the right.

Suit or Tux?

I am about to get married and I have a big decision to make. I need to choose between getting a custom suit or a custom tuxedo. Now, because they're both custom, they will both look great. But the problem with the tuxedo is because its so formal, its not a very versatile outfit. On the other hand, I will be able to wear a suit to any regular "dress-down" occasion. So what should I do?

Thoughts?

Black suit/Navy tie

I feel like this is a terribly obvious topic but I feel the need to address it; the black suit with the navy tie. If you ask any style consultant they'll tell you that the match up isn't allowed. I heartily agree but yet it seems to show up everywhere. Perhaps the reason is because the far majority of men aren't style inclined... Anyhow, what do you think?

What would a Buggati Veyron on steriods be like?

WOW!!! Just when I thought know one would ever remove the Veyron from his throne, Buggati comes and does it themselves! Rumors have it that the new and improved Veyron will be around 1200hp. If that doesn't make your stomach clench, on top of that they plan on reducing its weight by 600lbs!!! The predicted top speed of 264 mph doesn't seem to far fetched now does it?!

Surgeon Cuffs

I just recently did a blog post with this same picture, but I decided to use it again because it illustrates another point. This time however, its something negative. No doubt, the suit looks great. 95% of the general public would look at Paul Walker in this suit and think it looks perfect. There is however a problem. Fake surgeon cuffs. Now, it could be that they just look fake because of the lighting and the angle, but either way its an important issue to address.

When it comes down to surgeon cuffs, there are three types: real surgeon cuffs (usually custom or bespoke), fake surgeon cuffs (They appear to be real with the contrast stitching but are really fake holes) and regular cuffs (off-the-rack suits, without contrast stitching or button holes).

The large majority of people not only don't notice the difference between fake surgeon cuffs and real surgeon cuffs, they don't notice the cuffs period. However, for the educated, style inclined individual, it is very noticeable. My opinion, if you want the surgeon cuff look, go custom or bespoke. Don't even consider the fake button hole look.

You Are What You Wear

The other day I found myself explaining to a friend why custom suits are better than-off-the rack. I focused on confidence and self-image because those are the biggest reasons for me. As I was talking I thought of a simple but true example. I asked him if he had ever dressed up in school for a class or presentation. He responded, "Yes.." nervously, knowing I was about to open his mind to my opinion. I then asked him if he felt like he performed better and was more attentive when he dressed up. He said "yes." I then told him that the same feelings of a higher standard that he had dressing up in his regular, off-the-rack clothes from his casual clothes, is equivalent to dressing up in custom clothes opposed to off-the-rack clothes. Yes, its that big of a difference!! My father always told me that dress affects your performance, but I didn't believe him until I got into custom suits. Now if I were to wear an off the rack suit, I can imagine my performance being comprable to wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Don't believe me? Check it out and prove it yourself!

The Tie Bar

The tie bar. What do you think? No doubt it is in, but do you like it? Do you like it with the skinny tie?

Losee's Enzo Resurrected!!

I have some contacts that have let slip that Richard Losee's Ferrari Enzo may be in the process of being re-made. I will protect my sources identity, but rest assured, he is a credible source. For a little background, Richard Losee and his stalion beauty suffered a terrible accident in Utah some time ago. During a charity run, Richard's Enzo got a little lift while going 190 mph. Fortunately, despite all the times the car rolled, the Ferrari's race car interior protected Richard from permanent damage. Even though everyone thought the car was done for, there seems to be a little glimmer of hope left. Hopefully we will see that Enzo again, that Enzo being the first of all Enzo's to come to America.

Tips for New Bloggers

http://tips-for-new-bloggers.blogspot.com/

This website has been great in teaching the "in's and out's" of blogging.

The Trendy Look

Without making mention to the awesome glen plaid fabric, every other jacket and trouser spec seems to be right on the money with the current trend. Form fitting trousers, surgeon cuffs speak volumes, but the one trend that sticks out to me is the notched lapel. If your suit's lapel is not like this, then it is not in line with the trend. The notch itself is only about one inch and it is positioned parallel with the knot of his tie.

In my opinion, it's exactly how every trendy suit should look.

What do you think?

Time for Social Media to Take Over

I have just recently began research into everything social media related. Anyone who knows what social media is, they will know that I'm taking the first steps to an endless journey. Over the past couple of days I've come to the conculsion that there is so much to learn. I have simply scratched the surface of this immensly massive topic.
